Rowayat
Website
From the Editor
Rowayat is a literary journal emerging from Egypt. We feature writers living in Egypt, or have lived in Egypt in the past. We feature short stories, poetry, memoirs, travel literature, creative writing lessons, exclusive Art, interviews, reviews, Arabic literature in English Translation, and so much more. The website has different content, and will give you insight into the multitude of hybrid writers that have always existed in Egypt, and that still come out today.
From the site:
Rowayat launched in 2012 as a literary journal emerging from Egypt, publishing fiction, poetry, drama, and a range of works. We also published a children’s issue, Rowayat Gemeza, and a French issue, Édition spéciale de Rowayat en français. Since 2015, our focus has been Rowayat’s publishing arm, which has published over ten books. We’ve also recently relaunched Rowayat as a global, primarily online platform, featuring all the pieces from our previously printed issues.
Submissions

From the site:
Rowayat seeks original writing for upcoming online publications. We accept unsolicited simultaneous submissions and aim to respond within 3 months. Submission categories are fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, flash fiction, comics, art, reviews, and interviews — in English, French, or Arabic in translation. Contributors do not need to identify as of Arab/SWANA descent, provided their work is in dialogue with the transnational social realities of the Afro/Arab regions and its diaspora communities. Contributors may also decide to expand this reality altogether.
