  1. We are going step by step in the book and keeping the sections short. I’m going to try to keep the sections under 3000 words. That’s about a 10 min read for the average reader. The letters at the beginning of the novel help to set up the story of obsession. This is the original book unabridged. It’s the 1818 version: Frankenstein; Or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. Also, I’ve read and taught this novel many times. The best movie version (though none are perfect) is probably Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein from 1994 directed by Kenneth Branagh. Don’t watch it until we are finished reading!!!
