From the Publisher
Our chapbooks have strong, unusual themes. Our pamphlets are distributed for free along with every purchase.
Neon Books is a UK-based independent publisher, producing a small-number of carefully-selected chapbooks, pamphlets and other ephemera each year. We lean towards literary and slipstream writing, with a preference for the magical realist and the extremely odd. Everything we publish is about something. We think that most art should be.
We work with authors from anywhere in the world. Our current catalogue includes the award-winning novella The Mesmerist’s Daughter by Heidi James, The Naming Of Cancer (a fourteen-poem chapbook by Scottish Book Trust Award-winning poet Tracey S Rosenberg), and A Week With Beijing by prolific author and academic Meg Eden. We also produce a number of free pamphlets.
Our serial publications are Neon Literary Magazine (a surreal and haunting collection of weird fiction and poetry which shows its face two or three times a year) and Battery Pack (an annual anthology of the best micro-fiction we can find).
On top of all that, we maintain a collection of resources for budding writers, including a list of UK literary magazines, and a guide to publishing your work in them. Our blog regularly features reviews, interviews and other literary features of interest. To find out about publishing your work with us, please see the guidelines page, and sign up for our infrequent mailing list which goes out whenever a new call for submissions opens up.
Submissions
I’m interested in chapbooks and pamphlets that have a strong, specific theme or story. I am less interested in collections of general poetry. I am very keen to see ideas for chapbooks or pamphlets that are “about” something – especially if the thing that they are about is interesting or odd.

Dear Krishan
I’m sure you are besieged by literary traffic. This, bear with me, to add to the fare. Do hope you got my previous email notes.
As to the ms I sent, we are, er, coming up to the three-month mark. I continue to hope you will take it on.
Word soon? Bob
