Information About Your Press
At The Parliament House, we believe that pen and ink is as good as magic and spell, and we strive to provide a good home for those stories with a little extra dazzle. We work with our writers every step of the way on their literary journey, helping to bring out the most from their work. From multiple rounds of editing to unique, individualized marketing outreach, The Parliament House helps our authors produce brilliantly bizarre, original, and moving stories with some edge.
Why Parliament House? Though we are new on the block in the publishing community, our team has a combined twenty-plus years experience in editing, marketing, and design. We specialize in a niche market and are very selective about the sorts of titles we accept, because we want to ensure each of our projects gets the attention it deserves. Every title is selected specifically because we believe in its ability to succeed.
Striving to be the Guillermo del Toro of the indie publishing world, The Parliament House was founded by Shayne Leighton, bestselling author and marketing professional. The Parliament House curates fantasy of every scope. Be it contemporary, steampunk, paranormal, urban, or otherwise, it has to be the sort of magic that captures our attention and leaves a lasting impression.
Parliament House books are distributed in part by Ingram Spark.
Submissions
When it comes to new prospects, the Parliament House has a sharp and discerning taste. We specialize in fantasy, be it paranormal, contemporary, urban, or otherwise. Your characters must be unique and your voice must capture our attention. We are looking for the different and unusual, not another Twilight or Harry Potter retelling (though classic fairy tale retellings are acceptable, as long as they have a fresh twist).
Some examples of our reading tastes include The Night Circus, Six of Crows, Shadow and Bone, The Witch’s Daughter, and Nevermore…just to name a few. And we do like romantic elements.
Your novel should be between 50,000 to 140,000 words and should have already gone through rounds of beta reading, editing, sweat, and tears. We will not accept the half-baked.
At The Parliament House, we’re proud to offer some of the highest royalties in the industry. Digital-first releases receive up to 35% of cover price, while print royalties receive 7.5% of cover price. Currently, Parliament House releases titles in digital-first format, and upon a successful digital run, will then be released in paperback, hard cover, and audio book.
The Parliament house also considers revamping, so if you’re a self-published author looking for a new team and new readers, we are open to review previously published work.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
Please include your query letter and the first three chapters of your manuscript in the body of your email. NO ATTACHMENTS PLEASE!
Your query letter should include your word count, summery of your novel, your social media and contact information, as well as a short description of your marketing plans. (We design extensive marketing plans around each project we accept including ads and press releases, but we also expect the author to work as hard as we do!)
We make sure to involve the author in all creative choices, from the cover and interior designs, to the blurb, to the way we market. We understand this is your baby!

I refuse to say this in my story but do you take “zombie” books? I’m almost done with my book I’ve just been writing it in my free time as a hobby but if I can send it to a publisher.. why not.
