From the publisher:
Acre Books, funded by the Robert and Adele Schiff Foundation and housed in the University of Cincinnati’s English department, bridges independent and university publishing to create exceptional literature.
Established in 2016 by Nicola Mason as an extension of The Cincinnati Review, Acre publishes distinctive poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction, and hybrid works, with emphasis on new and diverse voices.
Through its university connection, Acre offers UC English PhD students hands-on publishing experience under editors Nicola Mason and Lisa Ampleman. The press releases six to seven titles yearly, distributed globally through the University of Chicago Press and Chicago Distribution Center, with Seagull Books as a publishing partner.
Our books receive coverage in major review publications like Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and the New York Times, among others. Acre titles have been recognized as finalists for the PEN/Hemingway Award, Lambda Literary Awards, Shirley Jackson Awards, and numerous other honors, including medals from the Foreword INDIES and IPPY Awards.
