From the Editor
American Poetry Review is a prestigious literary magazine founded in 1972. Published 6 times per year, APR focuses exclusively on publishing acclaimed contemporary poetry from the US and around the world, as well as poetry-related articles, interviews, essays and reviews.
APR has published extraordinary poets such as T.S Eliot, Ezra Pound, Sylvia Plath, John Ashbery, Adrienne Rich, Seamus Heaney and countless other major voices. While catering to seasoned poetry readers, APR also aims to engage general readers by presenting accessible, engaging poetry. APR is one of the most highly-regarded and long-running publications dedicated solely to poetry today.
Submissions
APR accepts submissions of original, previously unpublished poems. Poems should demonstrate skill, imagination and exceptional craft. Only a very small percentage of submitted poems are selected for publication. Translations, co-authored works, and previously self-published poems are not considered.
