What type of submissions you are looking for: | I get excited by writing that tries new things. When a writer can make that comparison that I wish I had come up with first. When the poem isn’t trying too hard and somehow makes me feel. When a piece is so lovely and gosh darn sensitive to human nature that I can’t help but sigh. I love newness, strangeness, but I equally enjoy traditional poetry, language used in a precise and controlled manner, and when a writer creates a world that I have never seen before. It’s the kind of writing that you know you like as soon as you read it, that lingers, that makes you come back to it and read it again. I want to publish writing that people have to read. Right now, there are a few journals out there taking those risks and publishing new writers who dare to break some rules. I want to get on that bandwagon. I want that new stuff. The urgency of it. Writing that pushes boundaries, not only in form, but also content. |
