From the Editor
The Pacific Northwest is home to a thriving, vibrant literary culture. Following in a long tradition of finely crafted regional writing, a new generation of local talent is trying new ideas and crafting cutting-edge, experimental prose. MOSS is an online journal dedicated to bringing Northwest literature to new audiences and exposing the emerging voices of the region to discerning readers, critics, and publishers. MOSS is published three times annually, featuring short stories and essays that exemplify a distinct Northwest voice. The first issue, published in August 2014, was recommended by the Seattle newspaper, The Stranger (http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2014/08/04/in-culture-news-free-moss-a-chat-with-francesca-lia-block-and-a-poll-about-cineramas-future), and included an interview with acclaimed Northwest author Ryan Boudinot.

We are now accepting fiction and nonfiction submissions for our second issue, to be published this winter. Submissions are limited to current residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia and those with a substantial connection to the region. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable, with the condition that you notify us immediately if your piece is accepted for publication elsewhere. Please send only one submission. MOSS pays every writer it publishes. There is no fee to submit. Please e-mail submissions (attached to your message as a Microsoft Word document) to mosslit [at] gmail [dot] com.
