From the Editor
At Unbroken, we love poetic prose and the prose poem. Because a haibun is a prose poem with a haiku at the end, we also love the haibun. And we feel that none of them are being given nearly enough attention. Unbroken desires to give the block, the paragraph, the unlineated prose, a new place to play.
Unbroken is a new journal, founded because, as writers ourselves, we saw a gap in the world of literary magazines that we wanted to help fill. We wanted to create a new place to showcase prose poems and poetic prose in the block, unlineated form, both from established and emerging voices.
Our first issue debuted February 1, 2015. Hereafter, we aim to publish bimonthly, our next issue being the March/April one. We are open to submissions year round.
We seek previously unpublished works of poetic prose, prose poems, and haibun. We will also consider vignettes. Traditional and innovative works are welcome. We want dark and disquieting, we want fanciful and funny, we want surreal and surprising. We want stunning and unusual imagery and language that compels. Remember to keep it in the block, in the paragraph, unbroken.
