The Austin Review is an independent, nonprofit literary journal based in Austin, Texas. Three times per year, it publishes a print journal including four pieces of flash nonfiction, four short stories, and one essay or work by a prominent author. The journal additionally publishes select work online and accepts proposals for interviews and book reviews for publication on its active blog. For its audience in Austin, the journal also maintains a literary events calendar, which points to self-sponsored and third-party events happening around the city.
Submissions
We are looking for flash nonfiction (500 words or fewer), short stories, and select essays (at most, one essay is selected and published per four months).
Upcoming
The Austin Review hosts a release party for each issue (currently, on a February/June/October schedule). We also will announce on our website smaller events and readings throughout the year.
