RED OCHRE LiT

Posted on November 24, 2010November 17, 2021 by Every Writer
Red Ochre LiT strives to publish premier, contemporary literature. We are interested in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and short, five poem chapbooks. While our primary goal is to showcase the work of experienced authors, we feature up to three emerging writers in each issue as well. To help give this new population of writers a voice, we randomly select one individual to interview about his/her journey to publication. RED OCHRE LiT was founded on the belief that reading and writing are becoming dying pastimes. In a world where people choose daily to flip through 1,000 channels instead of pages, writers must perfect their work and present it via widely accessible media venues. First and foremost, however, we must lose our fear of rejection and submit polished pieces for publication. Truly, this represents the crux of Red Ochre, resoiling the grains of our literary ancestors and what they worked so hard for. We are a multicultural journal and we venerate voices from around the world. We take pride in our national and international writers, whose work is both innovative and captivating. Anything less, would defeat our purpose. We invite you to read our issues and celebrate yet another wave of writing!

Revolution House Magazine

Posted on May 18, 2011December 28, 2017 by Every Writer
Revolution House is the brainchild of a disparate group of writers who came together during the tumultuous early months of 2011, when the MFA application anxiety was high and the lows were lower than low. We had a dream of a sprawling farmhouse, a place where we could all escape the dragging monotony of reality. But it's difficult to find a house with fourteen bedrooms, so we ended up here instead, building platforms to launch other dreams. Most of us have never met face-to-face. We are a product of the digital age ?- we rely on Facebook, text messages, and e-mails. But we'll never meet most of you, our writers and readers, face-to-face, either. We rely on the connections forged through thought, through contact that isn't physical. Together, we will build that house, using words as our tools, as the brick and mortar, until we have created something from nothing at all. Revolution House doesn't care if you have a hundred publication credits or if this is your first attempt. Send us your poems, your stories, your moments of shining truth, and we will treat them as we want our own to be treated: with respect and compassion. Send us the work that moves you, for better or worse.

Saraba is an imprint of Two Iroko Limited whose goal is to create unending voices by encouraging young, previously unheard writers to publish their works, assist emerging writers (i.e. those who have been published little or not at all, whose talent are recognizable and whose works are qualitative) in establishing their voices by creating a platform for their writing to be showcased. scissors and spackle, a journal of the written world (not publishing)

Posted on November 5, 2011April 29, 2019 by Every Writer
Words in their purist form both cut and repair, sometimes simultaneously. They have been used to create impact and empires, to bring peace in times of war and set battles in motion. Words have not been given the credit they are owed. Scissors and spackle wants to slip back into the power of words and is searching for artists who string them together in ways that make us remember. We are not concerned with what box or title an artist's work fits into, or how many words it takes them to get there. We are only interested in the destination. We are interested in fiction with out boundaries.

Silk Road (Defunct)

Posted on April 9, 2011May 5, 2023 by Every Writer
Twice a year Silk Road publishes finely crafted fiction, essays, poetry and translations that give readers a vivid point of exchange or an interaction that could occur only in a specific time and space. This event could be captured in a poem or short story as well as in reportage or travel writing. It could happen in a classroom in New Zealand or on the expanse of the African plains. We welcome work set in any location in the world including the U.S. Anyone from anywhere can enter into the conversation. We all start somewhere, so "place" is the touchstone the magazine uses for the pieces we publish. However we operate with no narrow definition of that word. The writers we feature take our readers somewhere crucial, defining and relevant.
