About the Publications
Goatshed Press invites student contributions for a new literary journal titled Echoes from the Goatshed, an anthology for the new generation of writers and artists and an invitation to create work around a shared vision and ethos. We are seeking submissions that are innovative, bold, and authentic; centred around themes of resilience, independence, fearlessness, grace and unpredictability. Goats are grumpy and unpredictable. Strong-willed and cantankerous. They chew through armoured cables, slip under fences and, inexplicably, end up on rooftops. Nonetheless, goats uphold their own definition of grace. They can stand for many hours on the side of a mountain, sure footed amongst the boulders and scree, their gaze trained on the sun setting behind some distant hill. Goats are loyal, yet fiercely independent. You can tell each goat apart by the way it lifts its chin to face the oncoming wind. The Goatshed is shelter and communion; a meeting place for travellers; a shared vision and a melding of minds. It is for people who believe in Art as Play, as the domain of the trickster, a space not defined by duty, but the crackle of possibility. At Goatshed Press, we champion new voices, amplify untamed talent, and deliver content that is dynamic, daring, and unapologetically authentic. We welcome contributions that are formally ambitious, unique, and considered, and are open to non-fiction, fiction, poetry, short prose, and artwork. For artwork, it is recommended that work is black and white due to the style of print. To submit to our open call, please send your work, along with a short bio, to goatshedmaddy@gmail.com. We look forward to reading your submissions!
