From the Editor
Eucalyptus Lit is a quarterly magazine of poetry, prose, and artwork. We are looking for searing, electric work that plays with language in beautiful ways. Our founders, Iris Cai, Felix Chen, and Jessica Wang, believe deeply in the power of words to inspire and bring about change. The written word has been a formative influence on each of their lives, and they are forever grateful to the wonderful literary community for the support they have received along their creative journeys. Eucalyptus is their way of giving back, and they hope to provide a platform for everyone to share and read the work of a variety of different perspectives and experience levels. Eucalyptus Lit considers works on a rolling basis year-round, and charges no submission fee. Submissions of all types are accepted: poetry, prose, hybrid or experimental genres, and artwork. We send all decisions within two to four weeks, and will provide free feedback upon request. Authors of all ages are welcome, as are pieces addressing any topic or theme. Send us your love for words, in whatever form that manifests. We are fans of confessional writing, but also of simple, pretty things. We want your authentic voices and your deepest truth. Accepted work will be released in four issues annually, with publication dates in December, March, June, and September. Accompanying each issue, Eucalyptus Lit also publishes interviews with two featured authors—one established, and one emerging—to promote the perspectives and experiences of young writers alongside those of more experienced ones. We hope, above all, to foster empathy and dialogue, and to highlight the diverse voices of our ever-changing world.
Submissions
We’re open year-round, and accept submissions of poetry, prose, hybrid and/or experimental genres, and artwork. No work created utilizing artificial intelligence aids will be considered for submission. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please indicate this in your email, as well as let us know immediately if your work is accepted somewhere else. We reserve First North American Rights, and all rights revert to the author upon publication, although we ask that you credit Eucalyptus Lit as the first publisher of your work. We will nominate for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Send all work to eucalyptus.lit@gmail.com. Include the word “SUBMISSION” in your email title, a cover letter, and a personal bio with less than 75 words. For poetry, please send up to five poems single-spaced, in a pdf or word document, starting each poem on a new page. For prose, send up to three pieces double-spaced, with a total word count of less than 5,000 words. For hybrid/experimental genres, please limit video/audio to under three minutes, and number of pictures to five or under. For artwork, please send up to five high quality JPEG or PNG files. We will get back to you in under two to four weeks and provide feedback upon request. However, our editors are all busy students juggling schoolwork and our own artistic careers—if we have not made a decision after four weeks have passed, do query and let us know!
