Jackdaw Review is an online literary journal dedicated to publishing exceptional poetry from both emerging and established voices. With our quarterly review and upcoming monthly Haiku Review, we curate works that demonstrate masterful command of language, innovative imagery, and profound insight—poems that linger in the reader’s mind long after reading. Our editorial vision celebrates the luminous and striking, seeking verse that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary.
As an independent, privately-funded press, we’re committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive literary community that amplifies poets from all backgrounds and experiences. Submissions
We seek to publish possess a unique brilliance, whether through striking imagery, innovative language, or profound insight, poems that linger in the reader’s mind, evoking deep emotions and offering fresh perspectives. We accept poems that are no longer than one page in length.
Jackdaw Review will be open for submissions beginning March 23, 2025. At this exciting literary venue, we focus exclusively on poetry that resonates with readers through evocative language, meticulous craftsmanship, and accessibility. Our editorial team actively seeks work that demonstrates artistic excellence while remaining approachable to a diverse readership.
We invite you to familiarize yourself with our aesthetic preferences by exploring our inaugural issue before submitting your work. All submissions must follow our structured guidelines, including proper use of our submission forms and adherence to our simultaneous submission policy, which requires prompt notification if your work is accepted elsewhere.
3-5 poems per submission
Poems should not exceed one page in length
$3 submission fee with response within 3 months
$10 Express Response option (response within 5 business days)
Haiku submissions considered within 2 weeks
Previously unpublished work only
We acquire First North American rights
Rights revert to author after publication with acknowledgment
