From the Editor
Established in 2023 and inspired by the founder’s dream journal, Moonday Mag is a quarterly art and literary magazine celebrating all things fantastic and fantastically strange. This is a place for the unexplainable, the fever dreams and delightful terrors, the place that rests between here and the uncanny valley. Moonday Mag is a home for art that is perhaps a bit difficult to describe, for the pieces that transcend genre and settle in the realm of… other. From sci-fi to fantasy to magical realism to the witching hour caught on camera in 35mm––we want it all. Issue 1 of the magazine, titled “The Ancients”, included fiction, poetry, and art all about the ancient forces that consume us. From demon dogs to ghosts with unfinished business to sirins soaring overhead to the cruel fate of time burying everything we once loved, we explored these things that have existed, in one way or another, since the beginning of time. We dug up mythological creatures, old-fashioned folklore, new urban legends, and fantasies too unpleasant to mention in polite society. The issue featured work from artists spanning both the globe and generations, as Moonday Mag is committed to welcoming artists from all walks of life, as long as you have a story to tell. We’ll listen. Send us your dreams that keep getting cut short by cold and robotic morning alarms, or the recurring nightmare you’re so very close to decoding, or the larger-than-life fantasy world you’ve been building in your head since grade school, because now there’s a place to proudly showcase it all. We seek out the things that keep us up at night (in the best way possible), because it is our belief that everything written down in this collective dream journal will stay safe within the pages on Moonday Mag.
