From the Editor
Mud Season Review is an international literary journal run by members of the Burlington Writers Workshop, a free writing workshop based in Vermont. We publish monthly: one story, one substantial poem or portfolio of poems, one essay or piece of narrative nonfiction, and visual art. The online journal showcases these individual works and their authors for a full month, by featuring interviews with the authors, inviting them to read their work, and offering them a virtual place within our workshop community. We read year-round. We aim to publish work that can teach something about life, but also about writing: what it can do with experience, and the experience it can provide a reader. We also offer detailed, written feedback from a senior editor for a fee. In addition to the digital journal, there is is one print journal annually.
From the site:
We seek deeply human work that will teach us something about life, but also about the craft of writing or visual art, and work that is original in its approach and that in some way moves us. Publishing and celebrating a diverse range of voices is important to us, so please include in your cover letter a brief biographical statement (50 words or less) as you would like it to appear with your published work. For more on what we look for in submissions, read an interview with our founding editor.
Submissions
Poetry (3 to 5 poems, up to 10 pages), fiction (story of up to 7,000 words), non-fiction (story up to 7,000 words) and art (1 to 6 digital images).
