From the Editor
New Plains Review provides an outlet for the creative and intellectual efforts of the academic community. Dedicated to fostering and maintaining the written word, New Plains Review gives a collective presentation of a wide range of cultural perspectives and demonstrates the drive toward academic excellence upon which the University of Central Oklahoma is founded. New Plains Review is published semiannually in the spring and fall by the University of Central Oklahoma and is staffed by faculty and students. We are committed to publishing high quality poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction by established and emerging writers. New Plains Review started in 1986 as a student publication of the Liberal Arts College of Central State University (now the University of Central Oklahoma). Over the years, New Plains Review has expanded its range to invite writers beyond the university community. We receive hundreds of submissions from all over the country, and the authors we publish range from the well-known to the soon-to-be-discovered. We are interested in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction that is thoughtful and compelling, but otherwise we do not have any specific guidelines for style or subject matter. We no longer arrange issues with thematic topics, but be sure to check out our Special Section for announcements as each issue usually contains a section focused on a specific topic relevant to Oklahoma and the Plains. We do accept simultaneous submissions. We do not accept previously published work. Your submission gives us permission to publish your work online. Submit your poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction to newplainsreview@gmail.com. Allow 6-8 weeks for response. Attach submissions in either Word (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf).
