Information about your publication |
Poetica Victorian is a journal of classical style poetry where form is used to create great works with powerful direction. Like the works of Tennyson, Bronte, Browning, Kipling, Frost and all the greatest poets of these styles our poetry has depth and meaning hidden not just in the words but in how they are said. Our poems and the contents of our journal are designed to make readers feel the poetry and we believe that the classical styles accomplish this better than those of free-verse poetry. Classical style poetry is as relevant today to the world as it was when it was once used more widely, however the modern literary community has forsaken the art in favor of a more democratic form in free-verse. We want to change that and so we bring you this journal. Poetica Victorian features Classical and Victorian style poems, reminiscent of the works of Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allan Poe, Tennyson, and others, by modern-day authors. We seek meter and rhyme scheme, power, and the ability to move the soul in our poems, and we give those poems in which we find them over to our readers so that they may enjoy this beautiful style of poetry even in this era of empty modern poetry. Poetica Victorian is a free online journal, so feel free to subscribe to our magazine by clicking the subscribe link at the top of the page or by clicking here. Subscribe for free Today! |
What type of submissions are you looking for? |
We are looking for poems of any length which are written with depth and some semblance of adherence to structure or form. Please send us 3-6 poems per submission. Make sure to review the submission guidelines from the link above before submitting any work. We seriously advise either subscribing for free to our journal or requesting a sample copy by emailing us so that you know if your work fits the types we publish. Please note that we are a journal of modern classical poetry, meaning poetry written today that reflects yesterday as a way of making a tomorrow! As such we love to read all forms of poetry and will review everything although classical style poetry has the strongest chance of publication in our journal. |
