Information about your publication |
Poetry, literary criticism, essays and reviews covering poetry about or involving war, and human experiences related to war (e.g. grief, cultural conflict, refugees). All political attitudes are acceptable so long as the writing is worthy. Open to civilians, veterans, and service personnel. |
What type of submissions are you looking for? |
Poems that demonstrate craft, in formal or free verse, with war as either a central or peripheral concern. We accept previously published work in the belief that good poems need more readers. We are more interested in thoughtful, nuanced work worth several readings than in simplistic polemics, sloppy free verse, or clunky doggerel, even if we agree with the poem’s values. We also look for informal essays and reviews, and we welcome comment (positive or not) about anything we publish. We want to start conversations about individual poems and about the relationships of poetry and war today. We are very open to poems from abroad, and will try to help arrange translations if the poet requests. |
