Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things
I’ve been editing and creating EWR for 15 years, and I know there is a shortage of serious literary magazines for young readers. The idea to do a top 10 list of literary magazines for young readers has been on my desk for years, but I could never find enough magazines that were consistently published and high quality. I’ve come to the conclusion that they do not exist.
Now Brian Lewis, inspired by his daughter, a young writer, has created Ember Magazine, a project that will help foster the love of reading of the next generation of writers while giving them an outlet for their work. Here is the project;

We need projects like this for the next generation of readers. There isn’t enough support out there, and we all know as writers how it is to come to writing for the first time. We know the amazing impact it can have on our lives.
Writing saved my life. I was directionless until I realized I could follow writing through college and to a career. I believe this project could do the same for young writers right now. Ember is looking for support through a Kickstarter campaign. Give what you can, but help this project!
