The Ellis Review
Website
From the Publisher
The Ellis Review was established as a platform through which emerging writers may have their voices magnified. Inspired by our namesake Ellis Island, we specialize in pulling forth gems from frigid ocean waters; once a week, every week, we give the spotlight to a new poet not only by featuring a poem of theirs, but also giving them a small set of interview questions to answer and promoting them via social media.
Submissions
We accept batches of 3-5 unpublished poems of any theme and by any author at a time, with deference given to submissions concerning or by members of the LGBT, POC, and/or immigrant communities.
Contests
We host an annual poetry contest entitled The Ellis Awards, each year centering around a specific theme. The theme for 2017 is “The New Colossus.” Writers may submit up to three poems (totalling no more than nine pages). Additionally, writers may mark their work for consideration in our LGBTQIA+ and Teen categories; however, no writer will be awarded more than one prize across the three categories.
