On the border line
by: Inas Essa
On the border line,
Can’t make a decision and talk
Can’t stay silent,
Words stuck in your mind and throat,
To speak them out you are afraid
Fear of criticism and misunderstanding
Controls you,
Swallowing your power,
Then you get a chance to speak your mind
You open your mouth with closed teeth,
Still in your head
Eddy thoughts trying to shadow each other,
Curtains before your eyes
Saying in a half whisper
You cannot, it is over,
So,
You shut your mouth firmly
Without getting a word out,
Or even uttering a sound
Still on the border line
Helplessly.
