Along the Dock
by BZ Niditch
I have lost
our reciprocal letters
of my childhood friend
when he suddenly
passed out of my life
outside the sea home
now harboring pebbles
to throw back
in the ocean’s wave
when we built
the orange kayak
reflecting as the sun
gleams on a torn
blue envelope.
