Sparkles with Annie
by Chris Lawrence
midwest afternoon blue,
riding solo all the
compass points,
to diner somewhere,
for breakfast,
hot coffee
and smiles,
brighter than dew
you eat,
you drink,
waitress catches like
a splinter of glass
in your eye,
watering for her beauty,
name tag says Annie
and how you’d
sparkle with Annie.
