Helping you Promote Your Books
There have been many changes in publishing over the last 15 years. EWR started in 1999, and we’ve seen the face of book publishing be completely remade by technology. That technology is so powerful it has even changed the philosophy of readers. If you would have told me in 1999 that Amazon was going change the way books were not only bought but also published, I would have snickered. No one knew that a device like a Kindle could change publishing so much.
Self-publishing was very much frowned upon at that time. In my writing program we were told not to waste our money and avoid scams like self or “vanity” publishing. They were right at that time, of course. The 1970s saw a rise in vanity publishers, and most of those publisher took your money (a lot of it) for a few 1000 copies of your book. You were then on your own to promote them, (with no internet). Most of the time is was a waste of money.
Now E-books, Amazon, and Kindle have changed all that. Would you rather get the nod from the big 6 publishing houses or land your self-published book on the best sellers list? Writers have this choice. They can decide. Even 5 years ago you were rather foolish to think that self-publishing was going to give you any kind of chance in making real money as an author. Now authors are making the best seller list all the time with their self-published books. Ebook top-sellers are usually dominated by self-published books.
We want to help self-published authors. For every successful self-published author out there, there are 1000s who are struggling to sell their books. We’ve started Self-Published and Small Press Books to help get your books out there. We also want to start a community of authors who help and support each other. We launched this service a few months back, and it is just beginning to gain popularity. We are getting submissions every day. Now we want to further support authors by creating this new email list to alert you (once per week) about new titles that have been listed. Please sign up here:
It supports our site and our authors. Also, if you are a self published author and you want to promote your book, please create a listing with us. We will tweet your listing and promote the book through email and our social networks. Also, the best part: It’s free.
